Goodluck Jonathan the president of Nigerian and his entourage came to Rome on Friday and were highly welcomed by the Pope’s representatives, and also Nigeria’s representative to the Vatican, Dr Francis Okeke.
According to reports, President Jonathan and Pope Francis discuss a certain interaction on Nigeria’s position on same-s*x marriage law not quiet long passed in the country.
The president of Nigerian was encourage and happy with Pope Francis on the further more of the inter-faith dialogue in the country and other parts of the world as a way of making a greater global peace and security in the country.
The President also said that his administration in hands is already working in close collaboration with Cardinal John Onaiyekan who was “the team leader” for the effort to strengthen, encourage and motivate inter-faith dialogue in Nigeria, and Goodluck Jonathan the president of Nigerian also assured the Pope of his administration’s that will soon took place on the commitment to its promotion of religious harmony and the peaceful co-existence of people of all faiths.
The president of Nigerian Goodluck Jonathan assure the Pope that his administration will never change and will continue to work a perfect diligently to alleviate poverty in Nigeria through more inclusive economic growth and development.
The president of Nigerian, Goodluck Jonathan were interview by the journalist after his meeting with the pope, Jonathan also said that Pope Francis has always taken a keen suggestion in Nigeria that will be a beneficial in the country, and has now promised to visit Nigeria..
President Jonathan said that the Pope also told him that he will continue to pray for God Almighty to bless the country,Nigeria and its people.
“My coming to meet with the Pope was to discuss certain issues, especially that of inter-faith dialogue which the Vatican has been encouraging.
“Also the Pope has been advocate that the world should do more on their economic to stop poverty and make sure that the common people of this world are in a position to live more normals lives and happy . The Pope is very dedicated unto poverty alleviation and insisting that country of the world expressing this situation of poverty should make adjustment in putting a stop on poverty to free the ordinary people in the country to live a well being live in the society and also the president of Nigerian, Goodluck Jonathan also said He interfaced with pope on how we can collaborate more with the Vatican on what we are already doing in this regard back home.
After his private meeting with President of Nigerian, Goodluck Jonathan, Pope Francis receive the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Prof Viola Onwuliri, the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, Governors, former Governor Peter Obi Godswill Akpabio and his spouse, Governor Gabriel Suswam,and his spouse, the wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Helen Mark and other members of the President’s entourage.
Others present at the enlarged audience with the Pope included Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Vatican,the Chaplain of the Presidential Villa, Venerable Obioma Onwuzurumba and Chief Mike Oghiadomhe. Dr. Francis C. Okeke.
